Look at the beautiful nature

When you think of a tropical island, you probably image of crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. In the Amami Islands, there are many spots not only the beautiful sea, but also forests and a variety of nature! Let's take a look at the beautiful prehistoric nature that remains in the Amami Islands, a Natural World Heritage Site!

Tomori beach

It's a shallow beach surrounded by a reef located in the northern part of Amami Oshima Island. The clear and breathtakingly beautiful sea is also known as the "Blue Angel Beach".

Kinsaku Primitive Forest

Kinsakubaru
It's located near Naze City in the center of Amami Oshima Island, and filled with subtropical plants.
With any luck, you might be able to find rare species such as the Lidth's jay!
If you go there, you need to be accompanied by a certified eco-tour guide.

Tokuhama
The sunrise at Tokuhama is exceptional! The strong tropical sun makes the sea sparkle and shine.
If you walk in the morning, you can feel the different scenery and air from the sea in the daytime. It will be a great way to start the day!

Lined Deigo tree
It's a spot along the sea where giant trees of Deigo line up leisurely. Around the end of May, you can see beautiful bright red Deigo flowers.
It's a good idea to take a break while looking out at the sea in the shade of the trees!

Innojofuta
Innojo lid

It's a cliff formed by erosion of uplifted coral by seawater and wind and rain for a long period of time. You can see a very beautiful sunset from the "Megane Iwa(glasses rock)" where two large cavities are lined up.
Yonama Beach
10 minutes by car from Tokunoshima Kodakara Airport! Yonama Beach is also selected as a triathlon swim venue.
The fine white sand and the clear blue sea seem to welcome you with "Mosyoire!"( which means welcome in amami.)

Fucha
This is a cave eroded by rough waves. The waves surge up to 70 meters when typhoons and storm come.
Since it is an area designated as a national park, there are no fences! If you look into the clear sea while feeling the nature itself, you may be able meet sea turtles!

Yurigahama
This is a beach that appears only at low tide from spring to summer. It is called a phantom beach because the place and size that appear varies depending on the day.
It is also famous for the star-shaped sand "hoshisuna", and there is a legend that "picking up as many as your age will make you happy."
